Rendering

I like the idea of updating a brick fireplace with a new mantel surround. It can update and neutralize what could potentially become an eyesore.

Office Envy

I stumbled upon this image and I love the storage wall and open shelving. I am completely envious of all that organization.

Clever Shoe Storage

A while back I posted about shoe storage ideas as part of my ever growing fondness for amazing closets. One of the ideas was to hang shoes on chair molding. Martha ('s staff) had a similar idea using plate rails painted out the same color as the wall. I love the subtlety of the look all the while still displaying all of those pretty shoes. I think the styling of the photo was nice as well with the chair and outfit hung for the next days attire. Martha certainly has a great staff.

New Rendering

I did this rendering of a stone cottage interior, and I am mostly satisfied with it. The french doors were beautiful and it had a very nice garden showing through and that was the reason I wanted to render the space so badly. The flooring is a nice tile floor in a herringbone pattern with a wool rug over the top to tie in to the stone wall.

Daily Drop Cap

I  stumbled upon Daily Drop Cap on Little Green Notebook and its this really cute website  devoted to illustrative initial caps with links. Its designed to "prettify the internet and beautify your blog posts." The creator, Jessica Hische, is a letterer and illustrator working in Brooklyn, New York. She is a freelancer and started this project to fill her free time and keep her inspired. All of the letters are fun and unique and I for one have an infinite number of uses I can think of for this fantastic service.  The links are for non-commercial use and the project will end after the twelfth alphabet is complete. She will keep the sight up however, for our use and inspiration.
Enjoy!

Style Inspiration: ROUND TABLES

The latest issue of Lonny Magazine was just chock full of goodies and got me thinking about round tables. My mom has been on the look out for an interesting round table for the kitchen for some time now, and I personally think they are the most versatile shape. Not just good for sitting at, the round table is a nice way to add softness to a hard space or just more dimension to a style. As a dining table, it is easy to add in more places and takes up less space. This versatile shape come in all styles and aesthetics, as you can see by the various style in this months Lonny, and I know I'm keeping an eye out for a nice one for myself.

House Envy on a GRAND Scale

Take a look at this kitchen I found on delight by design. The shear scale of this kitchen just has such an impact, and for some reason it makes me want to toast a marshmallow and go hiking.
